Open the Design tab, upload a PNG or JPG, and it lands in the centre of the code. Error correction jumps to level H at the same time, which is the part most tools leave you to work out for yourself.
A centre logo is, technically, deliberate damage to the symbol. QR codes survive it because of Reed–Solomon error correction — the same maths used on CDs and in deep-space telemetry. At level H a code can be decoded with roughly 30% of it unreadable, which is what buys room for your logo.
The catch is that the 30% is a budget shared with the real world. Print imperfection, a crease, glare on a laminated menu and a coffee ring all draw from the same allowance. Spend most of it on a large logo and there is nothing left for any of that, which is how branded codes end up failing in the field while looking perfect on screen.
What that means in practice
Keep the logo under 20% of the width
The size slider caps at 30% for a reason. Fifteen to twenty percent is the range that reliably survives printing.
Leave the clear-space option on
It punches a background-coloured patch behind the logo so it sits on empty space rather than on top of data modules.
Export SVG for anything printed
Vector output stays sharp from a business card to a billboard. Soft module edges are what push a marginal scan into a failed one.
Test the printed result, not the preview
Print one at final size on the real stock and scan it with the oldest phone you can find, before you commit to a run.

- Will a QR code with a logo still scan?
- Yes, if the logo stays small. Adding one raises error correction to level H automatically, which allows about 30% of the symbol to be obscured. Keep the logo under roughly 20% of the width, leave clear space enabled, and test the printed result.
- What image formats can I upload?
- PNG, JPG, WebP and GIF, up to 1 MB. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded to us.
- Why can I not upload an SVG logo?
- An SVG is a document, not just an image — it can carry scripts and references to external resources. Embedding one into an exported file would create a real security hole in every copy of that file. Export your logo as a PNG first; for a centre logo at this size there is no visible difference.
- Can I use a transparent background?
- Yes, for the code itself. The area immediately behind the logo still gets a solid patch when clear space is enabled, because that is what keeps the logo legible and the symbol decodable.
- Does the logo get sent to your servers?
- No. It is read locally with the browser's file API and drawn into the code on your device. It is embedded in the file you download and goes nowhere else.
